How to turn it on (post memes)
Sup nerds,
Posting memes changed my life.
Weird sentence, I know. But it’s true. And I’m not the only one.
On Wednesday you read about my employee Jovian’s journey from growing up broke in Indonesia to partying in America thanks to making memes.
Now you’re gonna hear some of the wildest places memes have landed me.
Partying with Peter Thiel
In October, I went to Hereticon, a conference in Miami hosted by Peter Thiel.
I talked with Palmer Luckey about memes. I chatted with Bryan Johnson about what type of headphones to wear to preserve my hearing. I snapped a pic with Elon’s baby mama and my celebrity crush Grimes. I even took a dump next to Kevin Spacey. Yes, forreal, we walked out of the bathroom at the same time. Quite a strange moment.
It was one of the best weeks of my life and has resulted in close to $1m in business in just the last 7 months since I’ve been there. And I only got invited because I was posting funny things and making friends on the internet.
Nailing a $30k sponsorship thanks to a penis meme
I posted a meme about Ramp’s logo turned into a penis.
This is the logo for a $13B software company. Stop overthinking. Just ship hard.

It went viral, I got a DM from their competitor, and 2 weeks later I landed a $30k sponsorship for my show Silly Valley Ventures. Wtf, you might think.
Well, you gotta remember I did write the book Memes Make Millions. That being said, I will be amending the name in the next edition to “Penis Memes Make Millions”.
Costa Rica founders trip
I went to a mansion in Costa Rica for a week with 8 startup founders.
I only got there because I started posting memes.
Yes I take my silliness deadly seriously ↓

The friendships and connections I’ve made from that trip have already paid dividends and literally paid back for the entire trip.
Another day-by-day breakdown of the trip here. One of my favorites. Also did a beachside podcast with Beehiiv CEO Tyler Denk on the trip. Thank you memes.
Hanging at a16z
a16z is one of the best VC firms in the Valley.
I am a memelord. You’d think I wouldn’t be allowed in this building. Yet here I am hanging and eating gummy bears and drinking Red Bull at a16z’s office in SF.

And again in NYC a couple weeks ago. The NYC office is nice, but no gummy bears. Quite disappointing.
I went to a16z’s office today.
I was there to pitch my notebook brand.
It’s a new type of notebook that turns your bad startup ideas into good ones.
I am now a billionaire.
How has no one done this???

VC firms want weirdos. Weirdos are the ones who change the world.
Getting videos made about me
How do you get videos made about you?
You do things worth making videos about.
No blackmail or shady paid influencers necessary!!! Just shitposting.
Make dope shit and people will naturally talk about it.
The internet is a serendipity machine
4 years ago, I was broke living in New Jersey.
I was in a dark spot in life. I had no clue what I was gonna do. I could barely pay rent. I had no connects or friends or a rich Dad in Silicon Valley to hook me up.
Then I started tweeting and writing this weekly blog.
Now I’m in a 2-floor penthouse now in NYC, run my dream business making millions of people laugh for a living, and got a crew of friends I love to death all because I invested in building on the internet.
The internet is a serendipity machine.
How do you turn it on?
You make cool shit
You meet cool people
I drew this diagram in 2022 called “The Cool Shit Law”.
the "cool shit law":
as you do more cool shit, you will meet exponentially more people doing cool shit.

At the time I had only started posting regularly for like 6 months.
I was just starting to make some friends here and there.
I was probably in the very beginning of the exponential curve above the letter “d” in “doing cool shit”. Now I’m slightly higher maybe around the “g” or “c”. Cool things are happening. I’m meeting my heroes. Partying with billionaires. Making my moolah.
But wanna know the craziest part?
Everyday I learn some new crazy hack around marketing or going viral or making internet moolah. Everyday I find out about some new piece of technology or weird new AI model. Everyday I feel like an idiot and I love it. Everyday feels like day 1.
It still feels like just the beginning.
Cheers to a life of serendipity thanks to the internet.
The internet gave me everything I got, so imma give it everything I got
